Hello, this is my car accident I was recently involved in. This is my 2006 Chevy Cobalt XL. The other vehicle is a 2004 Ford Freestar Van. I was riding down the road on my way to go pick up some friends when I came to a slight curve in the road. The driver of the other vehicle didn't bother to take it on their side of the road. We collided head-on, we was both traveling at 40 mph which was the speed limit on the road. The curve went left for me and right for them and they said they was looking down and didn't see that they came across into my lane. My skid marks were clearly on my side of the road. I was wearing my seatbelt and didn't get hurt bad. If I hadn't been wearing it I would of died!
I recieved a broken foot, leg and arm. I also got lots of bruises. My chest was bruised from the seatbelt. The other driver who wasn't wearing his seatbelt got a broken leg, pelvic, hip, arm and suffered a concussion. He also has some spinal cord damage! I was in the hospital for 6 hours then released. The other guy was in the hospital for a while. They found the accident as their fault as it clearly was! That was a good car with 16,000 miles on it. I never want to be in another accident again! That is the most scary feeling. I thought the car had blown up when the airbag deployed. The smoke from it filled the car. The other persons insurance came through and paid for everything without a problem.
Which is kind of a surprize, cause I'm only 17 and I thought they was going to say "He's just a kid! A inexperienced driver that was on the other side of the road!" Some insurance companys do that so they don't have to pay. Both vehicles were totalled. My friends were mad when I didn't show up, but when they heard I was in a head-on collision, they felt bad and was worried. They showed up at the hospital to see me! I'm thankful I didn't get severely hurt, or killed! We was both lucky to have made it and didn't die! It could of been a lot more worse! Pay attention to the road. If your looking for something pull off and check! This accident could of clearly been avoided if he had just waited or pulled off to get what he needed. Also wear a seatbelt! It saved my life and can surely save yours also!
