I was driving straight going west on Thousand Oaks Blvd, driving
35 mph in the fast lane (lane one of two). I was driving
a 2003 MR2 Spyder that was custom built. Now it's a total
loss. An SUV came plunging out of a 24 Hour Fitness Parking
Lot making an illegal left turn in front of me, in hopes to beat
me before my car came.
He didn't even make it across the street because we ran right
into his front drivers side fender. It was clearly his
fault, but the entire incident happened in slow motion... meaning
we could see it for a split second what was going to happen,
but we couldn't stop in time.
My sister was in the passenger seat and all I could hear was
my sister scream and then the next thing I knew we were carted
off in an ambulance and both air bags deploitted. The car
is deemed a total loss and I have a 9mm herniated disk, neck
pain and burns on my arms from the airbags.
