Nissan Pathfinder Crash: My name is Stevin and this is my car accident story. Because of what's left of Tropical Storm Fay, it had been raining for several days here in the Atlanta Metro area. I had gotten out of school early and was on my way home following the same route I have for the last 2 years.

My name is Stevin and this is my car accident story.

Because of what's left of Tropical Storm Fay, it had been raining for several days here in the Atlanta Metro area. I had gotten out of school early and was on my way home following the same route I have for the last 2 years.

As I was driving, the car in front of me slowed to turn, so my speed decreased from approximately 45 MPH to 30 MPH, after the car had turned I accelerated back to about 40 MPH and that's when there is a slight curve in the road. I couldn't see the 3.5 inches of water covering the right side of the road way and drove into it, immediately hydroplaning. I skidded off of the road and hit two mailboxes, hitting the first one with my mirror and completely annihilating the other before I over corrected, crossed back over the road way, went into a ditch and then hit a tree, all while still going at around 35 MPH.

After the car came to a stop, I immediately got out because the smoke from the radiator was so thick I couldn't breathe...well, that and the fact that the airbag had knocked the breath out of me.

A very nice guy stopped after he almost did the same thing and waited until my parents were able to get there.

I was incredibly lucky I only ended up with a bad abrasion on my right arm from the airbag and a sore back, other than that, I was fine.
